Mangrovia’s green project: Herbs in Aquaponics

Aquaponics is a system to grow vegetables that uses as fertilizer the water in which the Micropterus salmoides, also known as the largemouth bass, lives. Once filtered, it feeds the plants in the greenhouse with organic substances. The same water is then purified again and returned to the tanks where the fish grows. Lorenzo Cannella, the creator of the Mangrovia project, that supplies Ciccio Sultano’s restaurant says: «To the doubtful ones – we answer that no, our vegetables do not taste like fish. They are healthy and tasty like the fish we sell, weighing between 500 and 900 grams. Energy circulation is beautiful, and diversifying the resources is even better».
